BCP (Business Continuity Plan)
Disaster Preparedness Initiatives as a Social Infrastructure Company
As a social infrastructure company responsible for pharmaceutical distributions, we have established a distribution center with disaster-prepared structures, as well as a system to ensure stable supply even during emergencies.
Fully Prepared for Large-Scale Disasters
Establishing a support system in the event of a disaster
In preparation for large-scale disasters or pandemics, Alfresa has formulated a business continuity plan (BCP) to ensure the uninterrupted supply of pharmaceuticals from its nine distribution centers across the country. In order to safeguard public health, we are constantly working to establish a system to maintain a stable supply of pharmaceuticals at all times.
High-Durability Distribution Center
The "Distribution Center" itself is designed to be disaster-proof
Alfresa's distribution centers and pharmaceutical centers are built to withstand a level that is 1.25 times the earthquake resistance required by the Building Standards Act, which is equivalent to schools and hospitals. Furthermore, in preparation for power outages during disasters, each center is equipped with its own power generating equipment for electricity supply.

PICK UP
"Tsukuba Distribution Center" to start operation in May 2024
The Tsukuba Distribution Center, located in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture, is Alfresa's largest distribution base. The entire center, including the automated warehouse, will be equipped with seismic isolation structures to comprehensively protect products and buildings from earthquakes. In addition, we have installed a private power generating system capable of supplying electricity for up to 72 hours, enabling us to continuously supply medicines and other supplies even in the event of a disaster.
Supporting medical care activities during disasters
Development and operation of disaster relief container pharmacies
A container pharmacy is a mobile pharmacy that has been modified from a cargo container and equipped with dispensing equipment. The containers themselves are strong and heavy, making them resistant to strong winds and have high burglary protection, thus protecting the equipment and supplies inside.
In addition, each vehicle can transport a large number of supplies to disaster sites. It is equipped with a generator and water tank, and when lifelines are restored at the destination, it can be connected to a power outlet and water supply, enabling it to provide long-term support as a building.
In December 2023, Alfresa signed an agreement with Fujieda City in Shizuoka Prefecture regarding the operation of a disaster support container pharmacy. In the event of a disaster, the container pharmacy stored on the Alfresa Shizuoka Distribution Center site will be dispatched and set up at relief stations to support medical care provision activities.
