Supporting safe and secure pharmaceutical distribution as a social infrastructure
The role of Alfresa
Pharmaceuticals that are essential to people's lives and health are divided into "prescription drugs", used as prescribed or at the direction of a doctor, and "over-the-counter drugs" (OTC pharmaceutical) that can be purchased directly at drugstores, etc. Pharmaceuticals are life-related products, and all aspects of their manufacture, distribution and use are strictly regulated by law.
Our company complies with these laws and procures medical care-related products, including ethical pharmaceuticals, medical devices, diagnostic reagents, and nutritional supplements, from approximately 1,000 manufacturers. We deliver these products safely and securely to hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies.
In addition, MS, who work in sales for a pharmaceutical wholesaler, are on the front lines building relationships between Alfresa and its customers, such as hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies, by understanding market needs, selling products such as pharmaceuticals and reagent equipment, and providing information. Rather than simply serving as sales representatives, they literally play an active role as the core of marketing.
Nationwide network
At Alfresa, we have established a system to deliver pharmaceuticals according to the needs of medical care institutions through our nationwide network of branches and offices. This system includes "distribution centers" with large-scale back-end functions, "pharmaceutical centers" that quickly respond to needs in urban areas, and a comprehensive network throughout the country.
Logistics functions
At Alfresa, we comply with the Good Distribution Practices (GDP) guidelines for pharmaceuticals and have established a system to deliver pharmaceuticals and other products safely and securely.Translation: We are also building a system to stably distribute regenerative medicine products nationwide in Japan and developing and sharing transportation tools that correspond to new modalities.※1At the same time, we are promoting the efficiency of logistics while also taking the environment into consideration.
※1 Modality: Type of treatment, such as nucleic acid medicine or gene and cell therapy
The importance of stable supply
As part of the social infrastructure that protects people's healthy lives, Alfresa is constantly working to ensure a stable supply of pharmaceuticals at all times.
We have formulated a business continuity plan (BCP) in preparation for large-scale disasters such as earthquakes, typhoons, and floods, as well as the occurrence of pandemics. Formulating a BCP is a natural responsibility, and we constantly update it in response to social conditions.
